Comparison ยท Emoji websites
You do not need another emoji website. You need to stop visiting one.
Emoji reference sites are genuinely good at what they are for. You search a feeling, you find the character, you learn that ๐ is folded hands and not a high five. The problem is not the sites. The problem is that most visits are not research, they are the same six characters, again, because there is no way to type them.
The same thirty seconds, twice
You want ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ in a reply. It is the third time this week.
With a copy-paste emoji site
- 01 Open a new tab and lose sight of what you were writing
- 02 Search "shrug emoji" for the third time this week
- 03 Dismiss a cookie banner
- 04 Find the character among the ads
- 05 Click copy, switch back, paste
- 06 Notice it arrived as ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ with one arm missing
A tab, a search and a coin flip on the backslash
With Emoji Anywhere
- 01 Type :shrug
- 02 Press Enter
Both arms, every time, without leaving the field
The real suggestion engine, running on this page. No install needed to try it.
What you would type instead
:shrug โ ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ the most copy-pasted string online
:tableflip โ (โฏยฐโกยฐ)โฏ๏ธต โปโโป second most, probably
:emdash โ โ the other thing you keep googling
:arrow โ โ no character map required

Where the other option wins
Reference sites beat us at reference, and it is not close. Emojipedia in particular documents every emojiโs history, its proposal, and how it renders across Apple, Google, Samsung and the rest, which is genuinely useful when you want to know whether ๐ซ will look right to the person reading it. We do not attempt any of that. When you do not know what an emoji is called, or you need to check how it looks on someone elseโs phone, go there. We are for the characters you already know and keep having to fetch.
Where this one wins
- โ No second tab, no cookie banner, no ad between you and the character
- โ ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ arrives with both arms, because we insert it the way each editor expects
- โ Works offline, since there is nothing to load
- โ 276 kaomoji and symbols, all typeable rather than copyable
- โ Free, 280 KB, and nothing leaves your browser
The verdict
Keep the reference site bookmarked for the emoji you have never used. Install this for the six you use every day.
Questions
Do you have emoji meanings like the reference sites do?
We write a short usage note for each of the 110 most-used emojis, covering what it actually means in practice and where it gets misread. That is deliberately narrower than a full reference: for vendor artwork comparisons, Unicode proposal history or the long tail of 1,900 entries, a dedicated reference site is the better tool.
Why does the shrug lose an arm when I copy and paste it?
Its left arm is a macron followed by a backslash, and many editors treat a backslash as an escape character and swallow it. The extension inserts through each siteโs own editor machinery rather than pasting into the page, so the sequence survives intact.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. The whole dataset ships inside the extension, so suggestions work on a plane, on hotel wifi, or with the network tab open and empty.
