What 💀 means
The skull means dead, of laughter. It replaced 😂 for a generation: "I’m deceased 💀" is the highest compliment a joke can earn. Actual mortality rarely enters into it.

Dead, in the sense of laughing so hard you died. It has largely taken over from 😂 among younger users, and it is a compliment to whatever caused it. Read literally it looks alarming, which is the whole misunderstanding: almost nobody means death.
