The slight smile is technically pleasant and famously ambiguous: depending on context it reads as genuine mildness or as barely contained displeasure. When in doubt, 😊 is the safer warm smile.

Read by someone younger, or read at the end of a short reply to a long message, it lands as passive aggression: the smile you give when you are done arguing.
