An unchecked box, for a to-do list in a plain-text field that has no real checkboxes: a commit message, a chat message, a note. Pairs with the checked box so a list can show both states.
How to type ☐
The shortcuts below are the built-in routes. With
Emoji Anywhere
installed you can skip all of them and type
:empty_box_checkbox: in any text field instead, which
is the same on every platform.
macOS
No direct shortcut. Use Edit → Emoji & Symbols, or switch to the Unicode Hex
