What ¹ is for
The footnote marker, and the reason most people go looking for superscripts at all. A citation numbered this way survives being pasted into a plain text field, an email subject line or a tweet, none of which keep a word processor’s formatting.
How to type ¹
The shortcuts below are the built-in routes. With
