What ℂ is for
Blackboard bold C, the reals extended with the square root of minus one. Unlike 𝕏, these five all live in the ordinary part of Unicode rather than the far end, which is why they render in more fonts and can be typed with the Mac hex input.
How to type ℂ
The shortcuts below are the built-in routes. With
Emoji Anywhere
installed you can skip all of them and type
:complexes: in any text field instead, which
is the same on every platform.
macOS
No direct shortcut. Use Edit → Emoji & Symbols, or switch to the Unicode Hex
Input source and type 2102 with Option
held.
Windows
No Alt code. In Word, type 2102 then press Alt +
X. Elsewhere use the emoji panel with Win + Period, or Character Map.
