What ♯ is for
The sharp sign, raising a pitch by a semitone. Its slanted crossbars distinguish it from the hash sign, which is exactly the confusion C# the language leans into: the official spelling uses the hash.
How to type ♯
The shortcuts below are the built-in routes. With

installed you can skip all of them and type

is the same on every platform.
macOS
No direct shortcut. Use Edit → Emoji & Symbols, or switch to the Unicode Hex
Input source and type 266F with Option
